Muckety Muck Muck

You just read something rather irksome in the news and you're like "Ugh. I wish I knew who was responsible."

Or, let's be fair. Someone just did something a good samaritan would do and you want to be like Mike, or do something socially just. How do you find out what social ties a humanitarian-celebrity has?

There's a Muckety for that! Muckety what, who?

The tools available to journalists online now can be no better represented by what the datasphere presents to us on Muckety.com

This is an interactive data map that bestows you, at the whim of a double click, a web of handshakes between people in power. Clicking a name enables you to find out all about their business relationships and/or relationships to other people in powerful positions.

EXAMPLE: Muckety. Muckety.com

Loving it, and here's an example why.

Exploring the paths of power and influence? You can do it by Chicago, or Illinois, or by name, or by company, or by anything.

  1. This definitely shows you the importance of networking and finding out who the world is connected. DePaul's interesting.

  2. It has an undeniable right wing tilt, I am very skeptical of some about its information and sources.

  3. Muckety.com makes a lot of unconvincing assumptions, it’s no secret that government and business are bed mates with one another. Muckety doesn’t prove the level of interaction between the parties, or consider other outside influences, it has republican smear written all over it.

  4. Iweku/Breandan – Yes it’s catnip for the conspiracy theorists but I don’t see a vast right wing ploy. Muckety is a guideline to the who’s who and the what’s what, it’s a starting point to follow a line of investigation not the end story.
